Enantiomorphic Chamber [video screening] is the proposed third part of of a trio of curatorial exercises. The other projects include a gallery show at (NURTUREart, February 15 to March 23, 2008) and an online curatorial experiment (a blog as a gallery show).
This trio of projects begins with a desire to index what appears to be an unrecognized iconographic phenomenon in contemporary art: reflected figures. Figures in which each half is a mirror reflection of the other. We also propose a label for this figure: enantiomorph. Strictly speaking an enantiomorph is a pair of assymetrical figures that are mirror images of one another. Our stance is looser. And we’ve often approached this project at tangents to the above stated aims.
This project is named after a Robert Smithson’s sculpture from 1965, Enantiomorphic Chambers.
